Review by Sir Paul allllright, it seems like I didnt even sleep, and here I am at 8:45am writing this. Was a great, beautiful day out, worked on the tan, sun went down around 7:15ish. Didnt watch system/pm5k. Kid rock had his strippers and played his usual. Korn sounded pretty damn good played a good hour set.
Metallica came on at 9:15 with the video intro to ecstasy in gold, they had 3 big and crystal clear vedeo screens, 1 on either side and 1 behind the stage. Boston was PACKED to the rims, great fucken turnout.
Creep-great opener, complete with the sing-a-long die die die in the middle
Bellz-great, nothing stands out.
Seek-full song, no breaks
Fade-amazing lighting for it, didnt expect it.
Fuel-Gimme an M! Gimme an E! Gimme a T! Gimme fuel.....great to put on after
fade. Memory-crowd wasnt really into the whole nah nah thing at the end.
Sad-powerful as always, good thickness to it Clover-The intro was fixxed (from the m2k flubs), sounded a lot more
powerful this time to. King-dunno why, but this song bores me. They played an extended middle part
repeating the main riff for about 5 min b4 continuing.
Roam, love how it starts, got the place going again with the chorus.
MasterTarium, main part of MOP, full sanitarium, last part of MOP, great 10
min mix. Battery-taped intro, god damn what a great main set closer, fast and tight.
NEM-nothing new, last note held into Disappear-this song will be played at every metallica for as long as they
live..fuck man, great live song, they have fun with it, and the riffs are
just made for concerts. Lighting and spot lighting were great.
One-pyro's up the wazzu, behind the stage, to the side of the stage, in
front of the stage...feel bad for the front security guys cuz these things
were going off maybe 2-3 feet above their head. Page-smoke machines fogged up the stage 1st cover, great crowd sing-a-long. sandman-crowd pleaser of course, great lighting.
they threw all buy a few pix out after sandman and left the stage for a 3rd time, then came out and just kicked into last caress, without pausing a beat into so what and again, as if part of the song, die die...what a great mix to end the show.
Pyros for creep, fade, fuel, roam, battery, one, sandman. Tight fucken set, they had video's for the songs that had em going off and on with close up camara angles on the 3 screens. Lars ended saying, see ya with a new album next summer!

Aching back. Ringing Ears. Lost voice. 2 hours 15 minutes. It was all worth it to see Metallica and after what they played again last night ... After the other four bands opened, Metallica, who was supposed to start at 8:30, was to start at nine. Even after that delay, the Ecstasy of Gold ended up playing at 9:15. It hadn't even completely ended when Metallica opened from the middle of nowhere with "Creeping Death". "For Whom the Bell Tolls" was played directly after, with no stop in between the songs. After that, "Fade to Black" was played for the first time in over three years. What made it more unbelievable than it was was the fact that my friends and I were 50 feet from the stage and all we could hear was bass guitar and bass drums. They played "Seek and Destroy" which sounded slower and out-of-tune directly after which followed into James' first comments of the night - "Gimme an M", "Gimme an M", "Gimme an E", "Gimme a T", "Gimme Fuel, Gimme Fire...". "Fuel" and the next song, "The Memory Remains" both featured video clips on two of the four monitors. "Sad But True" was then played", followed by "No Leaf Clover" was played with it's recorded symphony intro, then the only Load song, "King Nothing", and "Wherever I May Roam", which hadn't been played on the last tour. The "Master of Puppets", "Welcome Home (Sanitarium) medley, "Masteritarium". The lights dimmed while the acoustic intro to "Battery" was played, and then the place exploded with people bosy surfing, moshpits, etc. - the heaviest song of the night.
After a few minutes, they came back out and played "Nothing Else Matters", "I Disappear", and "Turn the Page". They came out once again and played "One" and "Enter Sandman". They threw some pics and drumsticks out and debated on whether to keep on playing (everyone knew they were going to anyway because when they were to finish, the monitors would go out as did the other bands). Finally, Metallica played one more song, or three - a medley unlike anything I have ever heard - the three covers of "Last Caress/So What/Die, Die My Darling".

They did it all last night. It was my 1st time seeing Metallica live, and I couldn't have asked for more. I expected they would open with Crepping Death, and they did. They played all my faviorites except for 'Hero Of The Day' but who am I to complain? They played for over 2 hours and every second of it was great.
It was all readay an hour and a half into the set, they had left the stage after playing Battery, I knew it wasn't over yet. They came back for the on-core, or so I thought, and it started with 'Nothing Else Matters' then they went into 'I Disapear' and I was geeting a bit upset, where the hell is 'One' but before they left the stage for the second time, red fire works went off, the sounds of gun fire was heard throughout the stadium, and for 5 minuets that was all I could hear, I knew it was finally time, their last song of the night, 'One' and I went crazy down on the floor. My all time favorite Metallica song, and it was awesome.
They didn't stop after one. After acting as crazy as I could be for 'One' I was tired as hell as Metallica played 'Turn the Page' then 'Sandman.' It was my 1st time seeing my god's play and I know it will not be my last. But the 1st time is always the best, and this show will be hard to top.

Hey... my friends and I made the 5.5 hour journey from Long Island to see Summer Sanitarium, and it was well worth it! What a show! Best I have ever seen Metallica! Anyway, let's go from bottom to top. System of A Down opened with a great set...they closed with Sugar, but did not play Spiders to the surprise of many. They only played for about 30 min though. Next up was PowerMan 5000...Spider is a great front man. He talked well with the crowd between songs. Highlights included him messing up "Tonight The Stars Revolt" and saying so in the middle of the song. They opened with SuperNova Goes Pop and closed with "They Know who you Are." The low point of the show was Kid Rock...he was horrible. Only God Knows Why and Bawitdaba sounded OK, but the rest sucked. KORN ROCKED! They played the coolest versions of Fagget, Falling Away From Me (the opener for them), Freak on a Leash and the best song of theirs, Blind, which finished their set with their logo being set ablaze!
Now was time for Tallica! While setting up their stage, they played the original version of Whiskey in the Jar...it sounded really weird compared to Tallica's version. When Ecstasy of Gold began, the place went nuts. Out of nowhere they blasted CREEPING DEATH, and it was one of the best versions of the song I ever heard. They went right into For Whom The Bell Tolls, which also sounded great. James asked the crowd "Let's see who remembers this one!" and they played the heaviest version of Seek and Destroy I ever heard in my life! Then, the surprise of the night...FADE TO BLACK! It was awesome to hear that song live again! Fuel and Memory Remains were both cool, and Sad But True was simply awesome! Hearing No Leaf Clover without the orchestra was better than you would have expected it! King Nothing was stretched out by a few minutes, and it simply rocked! Cool to hear Roam again, and MASTERTARIUM was simply unbelievable. Shocker #2 followed as Battery was played in the middle of the show...they even played a recording of the intro...it rocked. After a short break, the typical Nothing Else Matters rendition occurred, followed by the new hit I Disappear, which sounds better live than on the radio. One was out of this world...as usual. Turn the Page sounded really cool live, and Enter Sandman was the typical sing along. Then, for the encore, we loved the new little garage medley! Last Caress, So What & Die Die My Darling all together was without a doubt one of the coolest endings to a show ever! This was one of the best setlists ever!
Great show! Can't wait to see Tallica again (this time at Giants Stadium with less travel time :>) What an unbelievable show...Metallica, you are the kings of rock!

This was my third time seeing Metallica live and every time up until the very moment before the show begins I forget how great they make me feel and how awesome they perform. I saw them on the Load tour in 97 and it was the first live concert I had ever attended by any band. What a way to spoil me forever. My God, I was on the floor, we touched Jason, Lars pointed at me, etc. Anyway, I've gone to other concerts since and they just plain sucked compared to the energy and friendship of a Metallica show. The Foxboro show was just plain awesome. I finally brought my girlfriend to whom I told Metallica was the greatest thing ever and their live shows were unbelievable. I told her she couldn't understand why I had said the Dave Matthews concert was boring as shit until she saw Tallica live. Well, she definitely understood one minute into the show as I saw her pumping her fists to Creeping Death. Now, I've given her all of my CD's and she is aching to learn more about Metallica. Everyone should bring a disbelieving fan to a Metallica concert and see what they are all about. Metallica is twice the age of all the bands that played and they still rocked more then the others did. They don't stand there and not move and try to look cool, they involve the fans and run their asses off to try to psyche us up. I especially love it that they are always smiling. We were on the side of the stage and every time Kirk and James came over, and Lars at the end, they were smiling the whole time. And they would always pound their chest as to say "thanks man, we love you," and you know they do. I have a band, and I hope to be able to continue my career someday as Metallica has...with concerts that keep on giving and giving, music with energy & power, and an unmatched love and respect for their fans. I love you guys, and I know your next album will be one of your greatest. Thanks so much for the music.
