James has appeared in 'guest roles' vocally in the South Park movie as well as Danzig's first album, Jim Martin's Milk & Blood and on COC's Wiseblood, he has also contributed guitar to Primus' Anti-Pop.

James, unfortunately is the most hurt member of the band. The Summer Sanitarium of 2000 saw James sidelined with a bad back, he's also spent time with his wrist in casts for skateboarding accidents (he has since hung his board up). He was also burned in a pyro mishap in 1992.

Other Interests
James is lifelong, diehard Raiders fan; he is also a hockey fan, most notably following the San Jose Sharks. James is an avid hunter, sportsman and has been seen wakeboarding and snowboarding. He can also be found doing things other than jamming in his garage.. notably working on his Harley Davidson motor cycle and Chevy Bel Air hot rod.

Before Metallica
James worked in a sticker factory, as a high school janitor and as a mover. James' pre-Metallica bands include Obsession, Leather Charm and Phantom Lord.
