VH-1'S FAN PREMIERE INFO
"FAN" -- Acclaimed film director Joe Berlinger ("Paradise Lost," "Brother's Keeper," "Blair Witch Project 2") finds the diehard fans whose lives are defined by their fanaticism and explores the bands that inspire their intense devotion. Sometimes bizarre, sometimes funny, sometimes touching, the innovative program scours concert lines, surfs the web, and spends time with the fans around the country who go beyond the normal limits to express their devotion to their favorite rock stars, as well as talks to the stars themselves in extensive interviews. The show's focus on fanaticism will also be used as a springboard to look at the larger cultural landscape in an entertaining, story-driven manner. The series premiere edition looks at Metallica and its fans. Executive producers, Lauren Zalaznick, Jane Lipsitz; producer/director, Joe Berlinger. (Premieres May 2000) TOUR LINE UP?

We received an e-mail from Don Jantzen, Program Director and DJ for Colorado's Pure Rock 94.3 KILO (You can head to the website and listen to the station while you surf the web). Dan says: "I was the jock that played the song to the rep on the phone. Played it a total of 5 times before the C&D arrived. Then a few more after."
Don also lets know that his stations website has posted a copy of the "Cease & Desist" order. The C&D originates from Hollywood Records, the record label responsible the M:I-2 soundtrack. You can check it out here.
UPDATE: Don lets us know that "Also... I found out that Hollywood Records will possibly be issuing lawsuits to several stations that put reps on the air without their permission. Us NOT being one of them." Thanks! I DISAPPEAR DISAPPEARS
A "Cease & Desist" order was faxed was sent to stations playing I Disappear, lawsuits could follow. Expect to find that I Disappear has disappeared from the airwaves. One station, KILO, in Colorado, played the song back-to-back while having a rep on the phone. The DJ cut the 2nd time short stating HIS station was going to fire him and he would have to deal with the lawsuit personally.
Another station, has actually posted the MP3 for the song on their website. Various bootleg versions have popped up on websites and FTP's, we hear lawsuits will be filed. Thanks to all those that have passed along stories... especially Paul and Rain. I DISAPPEAR LYRICS

Dan tells us that radio station WRIF in Detroit, has played the new Metallica song, I Disappear. Of the new song he tells us: "Alot of hey hey heys in it, sounds like a heavy riff they would just kinda of jam on that sort of feel, kinda like Bad Seed when it would get played at the beginning of the show during the Load tour, that kind of feel anyway. Something they would get the crowd to grunt to. They just said it was called Disappear." UPDATE: Allen lets us know that Dallas/Ft. Worth station KEGL has also played it! OFFICIAL TOUR NEWS

Thanks to Jaka for the info! JANE SAYS
Clay sends us this e-mail: "Crazy as it may seem, Metallica makes an appearance (sort of) in April's Jane Magazine. My girlfriend gets it and it's the first descent thing they've ever had in it. The way they show up is, on the last page they have setlists stolen from concerts. Cher and the Beastie Boys are on there too, and Metallica's setlist is from the last European tour when they visited Spain. In the caption they say, "and we know that Metallica likes to blow shit up four times a night." Of course that comes from the pyro indication beside the songs they use pyro on. Useless bit of information, but maybe if people are visiting their local magazine rack they'll pick up the magazine and look at the last page. By the way, thanks for keeping me up to date on all the latest Metallica news. You guys do a great job." Thanks Clay!

The current issue of Kerrang features Metallica on page three! A arge photo of Lars (hair getting a bit longer) and Kid Rock at this year's post-Grammy awards at the Beverly Hills Hotel. There's a little info on the Kid Rock cover of Sad But True next to it. Below there's a feature on James, next to a couple of pictures from the latest South Park Movie. The article states: "Hetfield contributes vocals to a sequence in which Kenny dies on an operating table and is tossed around in Hell by fiery demons. Bizarrely, Metallica's management have no knowledge of what the song is, or how the frontman came to appear on it. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut will be released on March 27." The article also stated the S&M-DVD to be released is May.
Thanks to Davy. MORE ON THE TOUR?
Matt tells us "I got some information from the Mike and Jimmy Concert Show on WPLR out of Hamden CT, that Metallica will have a short summer tour, and will be playing at some Race Tracks." (The radio station also confirmed the statement in an e-mail.) S&M DVD

MTV has confirmed the title of Metallica's M:I-2 song.. I Disappear. Sources say this song has a strong "Load-ReLoad" feel to it. TOUR!?!?!?!
From CD NOW "We're doing [European] festivals this summer with Metallica, and then like a week later we're doing shows with Lauryn Hill. And right after that we're doing a show with Bjork. We don't have boundaries in our music," Muggs tells allstar writer Matt Sager in an interview that will be posted on the site Wednesday (March 15)." Read the whole story here. REASSURANCE FROM THE MIGHTY HETFIELD
Hard Radio Spoke with Jaymz on Wednesday and were told that he was busy writing and rehearsing new tunes and the new album will be "very very heavy." Click here to go directly to the story. Thanks to Ozer Katz for lettin' us know! NOTE: this appears to be the same source circulating earlier, from a radio clip on WAAF. The radio station will not confirm that James appeared on their station. It is possible that this was an old clip. It is known that James was recently in Hawaii, Jason in Florida and Lars was hanging with Kid Rock in LA. This makes it seem unlikely that the band is writing or rehearsing anything at this time.
