CD NOW says of Saturday's KROQ Weenie Roast show: "Metallica, the hands-down heroes of the day, were up next and played what's become their standard show of near-perfect metal. But a bit of drama unfolded backstage before they played,
as currently-retired basketball star Dennis Rodman sent word to Metallica's camp that he wanted to bring the band onstage. The band said no, however, and a KROQ staffer was forced to break the news to a disappointed Rodman."

Kirk talked to KERRANG! magazine (755 - June 19th issue):
On Symphonica: "We still have to listen to the tapes of our mobile truck recordings and the film footage, to figure out whether they're palatable, but there's a pretty good possibilty that we might release it. On the actual nights I was absolutely amazed at how great it felt. It was totally awe-inspiring, and turned our music into symphony pieces. Everything sounded much bigger - and heavier!" Hammett expects the album and video to see the light of day before the end of this year. "As to whether it'll be a double or whatever," he adds, "it's too early to say. It'll however be many tracks we can fit on a CD! We did 18 or 19 songs a night - it was the regular Metallica live set, really. We might leave some songs off, or do the entire concert,"
On the two new tracks, Minus Human and No Leaf Clover: "They were literally two or three weeks old when we play 'em live." "Minus Human is pretty heavy, while 'No Leaf Clover' is more melodic. It has really good lyrics and a great hook-line. All of us have tons of ideas and uncompleted bits of music. After all the touring we'll take a short break, then start throwing ideas around for a new album. It'll be the first time we've gone through the writing stages since 1995!"
On the guest appearances on the upcoming Primus album, Kirk says: "James and I play rhythm guitar on a cover of David Bowie's 'Fame." Also popping up on that album? "there's Rob Zombie, Jim Martin, Fred Durst, Tom Morello and more. We've been friends with Primus for a long time - we're always hanging out together and in each other's beds!"

I go over to another North Beach place called Rose Pistola's. It's one of those places you walk in and you don't even look at the menu. It's like, "Surprise me." If I don't feel like eating anything, I'll just have fucking martini du jour or whatever. That place is, like, a real vibe." Just some more interesting info on everyone's favorite Metallica drummer :)

Look for a sample of "For Whom The Bell Tolls" on a new release from The Bloodhound Gang called (cough) "Hooray for Boobies." Griin tells us "It's the beginning, after the bells. This song can be heard on a promo tape, that the Bloodhound Gang give away on their concerts at the moment."

The studio for Metallica, The Plant in Sausolito, California has undergone some changes since Metallica has graced it for recording. Dutch entrepreneur Eckart Wintzen has acquired a substantial ownership position for the studio, this aligns The Plant with Ex'pression Center for New Media, the innovative new digital arts career training center, as Wintzen's international investment group, is now involved in both enterprises.
In addition, an expansion at The Plant has been underway since November 1998, with the design and development of a new 5.1 Surround Sound mixing studio named "The Garden." The studio is innovative in its use of new speaker technology; its size and shape, which is elliptical; its lighting, plasma displays and client lounging spaces. The innovative room is designed for mixing projects either digital or analog, in any format, stereo or six-channel Surround, 48-track, 96-track or more.
