Star Wars composer John Williams confirmed reports that Metallica will provide a crucial piece of music for the Episode 1 movie due May 19th. Williams, who has composed countless scores, including the original Star Wars movies, says of the music "It's for the climatic battle, George and I were looking for a sound that the London Symphony just couldn't provide." Williams goes on to say "George then remembered some work Skywalker Sound did for a Metallica release. I put a call in to (fellow composer) Michael Kamen who just raved about the band."

During the press conference back in January, Lars hinted that he and James just might be able to get together and put a new tune or two together. Inter Sandman has learned through inside sources that a new song HAS been written. The song is titled "Enter Sandman II," and will be played live for the first time at the Symphony shows.
In a press conference this morning, Lars has announced that he and James have purchased the NHL's San Jose Sharks. Lars will be the new coach as well as play for the team. "Yeah, I'll be player/coach," remarked the drummer. "I'll be playing left wing on the power-play, I've tried to talk James into playing some defense for us.. we could use him, especially as the play-offs get closer."
New Age performer's Yanni and John Tesh will be the warm up acts for the Symphony shows. Both performer's have used full symphony orchestra's in the past. Tesh says "it's an incredible opportunity to present our music to a whole new audience."
Kirk Hammett, who's done some slide guitar playing, will apparently be
performing at least one Metallica song with the San Francisco Symphony
on the slide trombone. Hammett told the press today, "I took trombone
lessons through high school, mentioned it to Michael (Kamen) and he
began working with me on trombone. He seems very excited about the
prospect of a member of Metallica playing in the brass section with the
symphony." The idea of recruiting another guitarist, former Defcon lead
guitarist Lloyd Grant, has been mentioned.
Living up to his threat(?) in "A Year & A Half In the Life of Metallica," bassist Jason Newsted has purchased his own country. The country, now named "Newstedland," is just north of the United States in an area formerly known as Canada. Jason's been seen wandering around talking about "pucks" and "beer" and saying "eh" alot.
