AUGUST 1999-PRESENT RUMOR MILL
Kornweb reports: "Korn will be recording a cover of Metallica's ''Enter Sandman'' for the up-coming 8th installment in the Nightmare on Elm Street series, due out next winter. The soundtrack is a tribute to classic metal bands, and will feature new bands covering the old. Expected songs/bands are System of a Down covering Faith No More's ''Epic,'' Sevendust covering Bad Brains' ''Soul Craft,'' and Coal Chamber covering Motley Crue's ''Dr. Feel Good.'' Keep in mind, this is just a rumour, but a heavy one none-the-less." Thanks to DrUnKeNMiMe333.
Davy lets us know that "Yesterday I contacted the Pukkelpop organization here in Belgium regarding the rumour that Metallica had been contacted to play the festival, today they confirmed that Metallica is DEFINETELY NOT going to play there this year." Too bad!
Dennis, of the Belgium Devil Dancers tells us: I heard this last week...that Pukkelpop is talking to metallica to play at the festival in August...in Belgium (I was the first one who heard something from the Berlin symphony also...so)
I always say...when there is smoke..there must be a fire!!!
We received this e-mail today... Great rumor! In case you haven't already heard, Metallica's show at 3-Com Park in San Francisco on July 14 will have a bonus: Metallica will play a short set on a flatbed truck in the parking lot for the fans waiting in line to enter the stadium! Check out the validity of this rumor if you like, but this is insider information obtained from someone who works closely with (but not for) [omitted] Please don't reveal that you got this information from me. Thanks.
Pimprockpalace reports that Metallica (though still unconfirmed) will be joining up with the Tattoo the Earth tour when they make a stop at Giants Stadium on July 20. In addition, 92.3 KROCK in NYC DJ Will Pendarvis, who was responsible for the petition to get Metallica to play again in NY, said that he would "bet a pack of cigarettes" on the fact that Metallica would be playing in NY this summer. Other DJs on the station said that SUPPOSEDLY Metallica and the rest of their crew from the summer tour are teaming up with the Tattoo The Earth Tour that day...we will see. The current lineup for the Tattoo the Earth tour is as follows: Slipknot Thanks to all those who contributed...
Soldout.com along with Rave Revue Tickets report that Metallica has negotiated another date for the previously scheduled Giant's Stadium show. The new date is reported to be Thursday July 20. No official word yet... Thanks to Fuel227.
TK101 has reported that Metallica will be on the bill for Fuji Rock Festival '00. Taisho told FujiRockers.org in late February:
We started talking to head-liner acts first and then others... As to Metalica, yeah, we did approach them, but the possibility of them appearing seemed to be getting difficult and so disappeared. On March 29th, however, the following conversation transcript was posted on FujiRockers.org:
Taisho: ...Simply getting some bands and putting them together doesn't make a festival. The most important thing is to give the festival some kinda concept as a whole... Like, if you wanted to have METALLICA as a headliner one day, then some bands might suit the line-up and some bands might not... To arrange the entire line-up is a big job, which has really been a bother for me.We'll see what happens with that "IF." ...Already confirmed for the 3-day FRF '00 are Asian Dub Foundation, Tha Blue Herb, Boom Boom Satellites, Denki Groove, Dry & Heavy, Fishbone, Foo Fighters, Garlic Boys, Gomez, The Mad Capsule Markets, Morrissey, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Primal Scream, Rollins Band, Run DMC, Snail Ramp, Sonic Youth, and Soul Flower Union. Thanks to Ben!
Rumor has it Metalllica may appear on Rockline next week, probably Monday. The unofficial rockline site, (apparently, the only Rockline site), has no listing of scheduled guests for next week (or the week after). Thanks to Kyle's Mom

Metal Hammer magazine reports that Pantera will join Metallica on for a summer tour and that it is confirmed to be so...that doesn't exactly sound like taking a year off! The new Pantera album, Reinventing the Steel, is due out March 21. UPDATE: Tallifan reports that MtlEdge.com says that Pantera is joining Ozzfest 2000 - so a summer tour with Metallica is unlikely!
